About “Trek Langtang”
Our Story
Our story begins with our founder, Sandip Kshetri. Born in the lap of the Annapurna Himalayas in the Tanahun District, the towering peaks were a constant presence throughout his childhood. Yet, like many families in Nepal, Sandip’s early life was shaped by sacrifice. His father, Surya Bahadur Kshetri, spent much of his life working abroad to provide for Sandip, his mother, and his siblings. At one point, his father worked in Malaysia for seven consecutive years without returning home.
Watching his father’s dedication, Sandip naturally assumed he would follow the same path. After completing his Higher Secondary Education, he prepared to seek opportunities overseas to earn a good living for his family.
However, his father intervened. Having endured the profound hardship of living far away from his loved ones and his homeland, Surya Bahadur envisioned a different future for his son. He urged Sandip to stay, study, and build a life in Nepal. He told his son that even a modest living at home, surrounded by his own people, was worth more than lucrative dollars earned in isolation abroad.
Honoring his father’s wish, Sandip stayed. He went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Business Management with excellent marks. Still, like many young graduates, he found himself searching for a clear sense of direction.
The answer finally came where it all began: in the mountains. While on the Mardi Trek, Sandip experienced a profound, awe-inspiring realization. Surrounded by the majestic peaks, he felt as though the mountains were speaking directly to him. In that undeniable “eureka” moment, his purpose became clear: his future belonged in tourism.
Driven by this newfound clarity, Sandip began working in the tourism industry. Along the way, he connected with passionate local guides from the Langtang region who shared a common vision: to showcase the beauty of Langtang in an authentic, community-focused way. Finally, he founded “Trek Langtang” and “Travel To Nepal“.
Today, Trek Langtang Private Limited is an officially registered travel company dedicated to exploring the Langtang region including the Langtang Valley from a fresh perspective. We are deeply committed to taking travelers off the beaten path, promoting incredible, lesser-known trails like Gosaikunda, the Tamang Heritage Trail, and the Ruby Valley.
Our company was born from a father’s wish, a son’s dedication to his homeland, and a deep love for the Himalayas. And this is just the beginning of our journey.
Guarding The First Shangri-La
At Trek Langtang, we are guided by the principle of “Guarding The First Shangri-La.” To us, this means actively protecting and preserving the natural resources, vibrant cultures, local communities, and diverse wildlife of Nepal. “Shangri-La” represents Nepal (and of course, Langtang Valley) at its core: a sanctuary of peace where all lifeforms thrive.
Historically, Nepal has always been celebrated as an earthly paradise. While political instability and unsustainable development over the past few decades have challenged that image, our mission is to restore it. We are committed to bringing back the true essence of Shangri-La, ensuring that Nepal remains the ultimate dream destination for every traveler.
